More on Jerry Sloan:
Legendary NBA Hall of Fame coach, Jerry Sloan, who passed away in May, grew up in McLeansboro, Illinois. His custom ranch home and 53-acre farm in McLeansboro is being sold by his family and brokered by Evansville's Curran Miller Auction Realty.
McLeansboro is the county seat in southern Illinois’ Hamilton County, with a population of 3,000. It’s approximately 300 miles south of Chicago and about 108 miles east of St. Louis. It’s 65 miles west of Evansville, Indiana.
Sloan’s scenic estate features breathtaking views, space to have horses and other livestock and is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Those that enjoy hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities will delight in this property. The spacious one-level custom home, built by Evansville’s Elpers Brothers Construction, features four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, a finished basement, a relaxing inground spa, and many other amenities. The outdoor living space is perfect for hosting family and friends for large or small gatherings. The rolling landscape views from the back patio are “European-Esque”.
Sloan was a former player of the Chicago Bulls from 1966-76 and his jersey hangs in the rafters of the United Center. "Jerry Sloan was ‘The Original Bull' whose tenacious defense and nightly hustle on the court represented the franchise and epitomized the city of Chicago," Chicago Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement after Sloan's passing. "Jerry was the face of the Bulls organization from its inception through the mid-1970s, and very appropriately, his uniform No. 4 was the first jersey retired by the team”
Sloan spent 23 seasons coaching the Jazz. The team -- with John Stockton and Karl Malone leading the way in many of those seasons -- finished below .500 in only one of those years. Sloan won 1,221 games in his career, the fourth-highest total in NBA history. He entered the NBA Hall of Fame in 2009.
