Most Crown Victorias that come through an auction ring have 200,000 miles on them and a story about a police department. This 2005 was sent to O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt — the outfit that built armor for presidential limousines — and came back with ballistic plating, Kevlar™ flooring, and armored ballistic glass all the way around. The numbers tell you how serious the work was: a stock Crown Vic carries a GVWR right around 5,600 pounds. This one is rated at 7,304. That's roughly 1,700 pounds of protection built into a car that still looks like every other gray sedan in the parking lot, which is exactly the point. Underneath it all it's still a Panther-platform Crown Victoria with the 4.6L V8 — a drivetrain that runs forever and that any shop in the country can work on. Leather power seats, air conditioning, full-size spare, new battery just installed. Now the honest part, because that's how we do it: there is a stress fracture in the rear window. It's disclosed, you can see it, and you should factor it into your bid. This is a twenty-one-year-old vehicle selling as-is, and we make no representation as to what ballistic rating this armor package meets or whether it still performs to its original spec. If that matters to you — and it should — inspect it, bring somebody who knows armored vehicles, and satisfy yourself before you bid. What we can tell you is that it's a genuinely rare car in genuinely good condition with mileage most collectors would call low for a five-year-old vehicle, let alone one this age. PAY & PICKUP: By appointment only for winning bidders on Thursday, September 24th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday, September 25th from 12:00 to 6:00 PM EDT at 1824 Willetts Bottom Road, Battletown, KY 40104. Payment in full is due at pickup. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check only, or wire transfer. NO CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS. No items will be shipped, no exceptions.
